As I promised in my last post, I want to share a polka dot pattern quilt. I use Photoshop CC for most of the variations, but you can do them using Procreate or GIMP, a free version like Photoshop but not as powerful as Photoshop.

I love drawing clips and images in Prograde. I like to draw on real paper, but it’s better to create new types of work in Photoshop and get professional results.

Open Photoshop and go to File > New to create a new canvas. Set the width and height to 400 px, the resolution to 300 DPI and select the Background to Transparent.

If you want to print the original, set the resolution to 300ppi and the color mode to CMYK. Or, if it’s digital, set the color mode to RGB.

Add two guides to help align the polka dots. These lines will not appear in the final image.

Go to View > New Guide, select Vertical and add 200px. This will add a guide to the center of the image. Next, add a leader width of 200px.

Select the Ellipse Tool and click on the canvas. Enter the width and height of your circle. You can choose the size and quantity you want. I will make a 100 x 100 px polka dot.

Place the polka dot in the center of the image. The guides will help you. If you selected the Snap option (View > Snap), you will hear a click in the center of the canvas.

When we start, our canvas is 400 x 400 px. The offset filter moves the polka dot 200px to the right and 200px down. If wrap around is selected, the polka dot will be divided into 4 equal parts to cover the edges of the image.

If your canvas is larger or smaller than 100px, add half the width of the image to the horizontal side and half the height of the image to the vertical side.

If you want to choose a different color for the polka dots, double-click the solid color layer in the Layers panel and choose a different color.
